The Town of Gardiner is served by the Gardiner and Shawangunk Valley Fire Departments. Volunteer fire and ambulance services are provided by both departments. These departments always welcome and need volunteers who are interested in serving their community. A New York State Police satellite station is located on Main Street at the Gardiner Fire Department.
Fire District Commissioners
The local fire districts are governed by boards of Fire Commissioners
elected by the residents of the respective fire districts. The
commissioners determine the annual budget of the fire district, set
management policies and purchase equipment for use by the volunteer
firefighters. Fire Commissioners typically meet once a month at their
local firehouse.
