1.  What are the library hours?

The Library hours are:

Monday:  1:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Tuesday:  10:00 AM - 12:00 PM,  1:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Thursday:  1:00 PM - 8:00 PM

3. How many days can I borrow a book at the Gardiner library?

The standard lending period is three (3) weeks for library books, CD's, Audio Books and periodiocals. The lending period for videotapes and DVDs is three (3) days with no renewal.

 

4.  How many books, tapes and periodicals does the Gardiner library have in its collection?

As of June, 2004, the latest inventory showed the Library had total holdings of more than 16,000 items, including books, videos, audio tapes and CDs.

 

5.  Does the Gardiner Library have an after-hours dropbox for return books?

Yes. It resembles a red city mailbox located near the front door at 5 Station Square in the hamlet of Gardiner. All materials may be returned to the drop-box.

 

6.  Does the Gardiner Library have inter-library loan services?

Yes. The Gardiner Library is a member of the Ramapo-Catskill Library System with about 50 other community libraries with resources of more than 3,000,000 items. Books ordered through the RCLS system typically arrive at the Gardiner Library within five (5) business days.

 

Starting in April, 2002, the Gardiner Library also participates in the "VDX" on-line Inter-library loan service. This library network includes the Mid-Hudson Library System, the New York State Library and more than a dozen college and technical school libraries.

 

7.  How much does it cost to become a member of the Gardiner Library?

Gardiner residents can become members of the Gardiner Library at no charge. A simple registration application (name, address, telephone) is all that is required.

 

8.  Does the Gardiner Library have books on tape?

The Gardiner Library has one of the largest selections of books on tape of any community library in this area. In addition to its collection of unabridged cassette tapes, the Library has started a books-on-CD collection.

 

9.  Does the Gardiner Library accept donations for the acquisition of a specific book or audio tape?

Yes. If you would like to underwrite the cost of specific book or audio tape, please contact the Library Director, Peg Lotvin at 255-1255. We are not accepting Used Books at this time.
