The Gardiner Fire District will conduct the annual fire district election from 6:00 p.m. to
9:00 p.m. on December 13, 2011 at the Gardiner Firehouse for the purpose of electing the
following district positions and seeking approval to make the Treasurer position
appointive. To be elected are one Fire Commissioner for a five year term commencing
January 1, 2012 ending December 31, 2016, one Fire Commissioner for a three year
un-expired term commencing January 1, 2012 ending December 31, 2014, one
Treasurer for a one year un-expired term commencing January 1, 2012 ending
December 31, 2012. ALSO Proposition No. 1 SHALL the Gardiner Fire District
Treasurer position become an appointive position commencing January 1, 2013, thereby
allowing the Board of Fire Commissioners to appoint a person familiar with municipal
accounting procedures as recommended by the New York State Comptroller? YES - NO
All Gardiner Fire District residents may become candidates for the above positions and
must submit their Letter of Intent, indicating position seeking, by November 23, 2011
with the fire district Secretary, Joyce Alexander, P.O. Box 17, Gardiner, NY 12525.
All Gardiner Fire District residents duly registered with the Ulster County Board of
Elections as of November 21, 2011 are eligible to vote on December 13, 2011.
