 The Gardiner Library
The Gardiner Libray is a public municipal library operated by the Town of Gardiner with more than 2,300 members. It has been located at the old firehouse building at 5 Station Square in the center of the hamlet of Gardiner since 1976 Founded in 1974 as the Gardiner Reading Center, the library is chartered by the New York State Education Department.
The library is administered by the 9-member Library Board of Trustees appointed by the Town Board. In addition to the annual budget appropriation from the town, the library also accepts gifts and donations. The library director is Peg Lotvin.
The library has books, periodicals, books on tape, CDs, DVD's and video tapes. With more than 15,200 items currently in its collection, the Board of Trustees is now actively seeking to build or acquire a larger facility. The Gardiner Library also participates in the Ramapo-Catskill Library System Inter-Library Loan Program and also the VDX on-line Inter-Library Loan Program.
Residents of the town of Gardiner may join the Gardiner Library at no charge.
