GARDINER SENIOR SOCIALS

The Gardiner Senior Resource Committee invites all Gardiner area seniors to our monthly Senior Social on Monday, November 18th from 1:30 to 4pm.

This month’s Social will be held at Gardiner Town Hall, 2340 Route 44/55. There will be a free presentation by Bryan Covert, an investment consultant who will address “Avoiding Financial Pitfalls in Retirement”. Bryan will be available to take any questions on this topic. Attendees are encouraged to stay for a light snack and beverage as well as a bit of socializing following the presentation. Bring board games and cards.

Halloween Parade & Pumpkin Walk

**RAIN DATE: Thursday, October 24, 6pm**

Hosted by Gardiner Library. It's the seventh annual Pumpkin Walk! Put on a costume and bring your carved pumpkin with a battery light to carry or share on the walkway.

This event is geared for little ones who may be overwhelmed by larger Halloween events.

We will start at the the library parking lot and walk through Gardiner returning to the Rail Trail for treats. Don't forget to bring a flashlight.

Shawangunk Valley Fire District: Legal Notice of Public Hearing on the 2020 Budget

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Proposed 2020 Budget of the Shawangunk Valley Fire District of the Towns of Gardiner and Shawangunk, State of New York has been provided to the Budget Officers of the Towns of Gardiner and Shawangunk, and;

A PUBLIC HEARING and SPECIAL MEETING will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Shawangunk Valley Firehouse, 2150 Bruynswick Road, Wallkill, NY  12589, in the Town of Shawangunk, State of New York on the 15 th day of October 2019

Pursuant to Town Law §105, the Board of Fire Commissioners must hold a public hearing on the budget, make the proposed budget available to the public prior to the public hearing, allow the public to comment on the budget at the public hearing. This public hearing must be held to allow maximum public participation in the hearing.

The purpose of the public hearing is to allow any person to be heard in favor of or against the proposed budget as it is submitted, or for or against any item or items contained in the proposed budget, and hearing all persons interested in the subject concerning same.  At the conclusion of the public hearing, the Board of Fire Commissioners shall immediately enter a Special Meeting for the purpose of discussing the 2020 Proposed Budget and adopting the 2020 Fire District Budget.

A copy of the proposed budget is available at the Office of the Town Clerks of the Towns of Gardiner, Town Hall, 2340 Route 44-55, Gardiner, NY  12525 and Shawangunk, Town Hall, Central Avenue, Wallkill, NY 12589 where it may be inspected by any interested person during their respective office hours, and at the Shawangunk Valley Fire House at 2150 Bruynswick Road, Wallkill, NY  12589 where it may be inspected by any interested person on Tuesday, October 8th 2019 between the hours of 7:00p.m. and 9:00 p.m.   Should any interested person want to receive a copy of the proposed budget, please call Fire District Secretary/Treasurer Roger Rascoe at (845) 895-2600.

The Gardiner Fire Department will host a Hands-Only CPR training session on Thursday, Sept 26th at 7PM. Located at: 2349 Route 44 55, Gardiner, NY 12525

The public is invited to train side by side with firefighters and EMTs. CPR Hands-Only is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a cardiac emergency before professional help arrives.

Delicious food, artisan and craft vendors, kids activities, and much more.

Residents of Gardiner are invited to show your Vintage Gardiner Spirit and bring out your Classic Cars, Antique Vehicles, Hotrods, or whatever you’ve got, to show off at Majestic Park Ball Field and Celebrate Gardiner Day in a Community Car Show. No registration, fees, or trophies - just friends and fun! Arrive at the park with your vehicle by 10am.

Community Mural Project: on Saturday, September 7, to Celebrate Gardiner Day, world-renowned muralist Lady Pink has created a beautiful community mural design for Majestic Park Handball Court - created with ideas contributed from local residents. Now all we need to make this design a reality is your participation to help paint it! Bring your friends and families to Majestic Park, and join us as we paint throughout the day. It will be tons of fun, and it is going to be beautiful!
